<div itemprop="description">JAMES CHRISTOPHER ORPEN, May 22, 1932-June 23, 2014 <br /> <br />It is with great sorrow that we announce Jim&rsquo;s peaceful passing at home after a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved husband of Margaret Ita (Garvey) for 56 years. Loving father to Sean, Michael (predeceased), Caroline and her husband Shawn Dion, Gerald, Robert and his wife Angela, Patricia and her husband Nick Serniuck. Proud grandfather to Remy and Quinn Orpen, Keenan and Kristen Dion, Nickolas, Miread and Maeve Serniuck, and Tara Orpen. <br /> <br />Visitation at Glen Oaks Funeral Home, 3164 Ninth Line, Oakville on Friday June 27 from 2-4 &amp; 6-8 pm. <br />Funeral Mass held at St. Mary Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 11 Peter St S, Mississauga on Saturday June 28 at 11:15 am. <br />Interment at Assumption Cemetery. <br /> <br />In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Princess Margaret Hospital Foundation at www.thepmcf.ca, Melanoma Immunotherapy Research Fund. You will need to click on the orange DONATE NOW button in the top right corner, then select 'Tribute in Memory', continue button on bottom right and then on the donation amount page, select 'Fund Allocation' and click for the drop down list, go to the bottom and click on 'More Funds', click again, then scroll up and select 'Melanoma Immunotherapy Research Fund' to complete the allocation. <br /> <br />Our family really appreciates your support of this Fund because melanoma is a very deadly disease and becoming more common. Dr Joshua and his team were wonderful to our dad and pulled out all the stops to provide him with the very best care with dignity and kindness. We are forever grateful to them and wish them success in finding the cure. <br /> <br />You can also call the Princess Margaret donation line at 416-946-6560, option 1, and mention James Orpen so that the funds will be directed to Dr Joshua's Melanoma Immunotherapy Research Fund to research melanoma. <br /> <br />Donation cards and envelopes will also be available at Glen Oaks Funeral Home on Friday. <br /> <br /></div>
