<div itemprop="description">It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend on Tuesday April 19, 2016. Survived by her husband Jack Thomson, daughter Lara Wickes and wife Tevia Celli, her grandchildren Ryder and Skylar, her sisters Marietta Astacaan and Dr. Delicia Asimont Bowling, her brothers Jose, Percival and Manuel Calbes, their spouses, her many nieces and nephews, and her dear beloved friend Sergio Scarabello. Eleanor was a worldwide renowned Opera Star whose career began with the Filipino Bayanihan Dance Troup that placed her on a journey of song which travelled Eleanor from New York where she performed on Broadway to Opera Houses around the world with the Canadian Opera Company. She settled in Mississauga and founded the Calbes Voice Studio where she had a prolific student body, founded the Fiesta Filipino Dance Company and she was awarded Musician of the Year in 1986 by the Mississauga Arts Council, as she had contributed an extraordinary amount to local arts as she directed and produced dozens of musicals, operas and operattas. Her voice, spirit and passion has touched, moved and inspired audiences, students, friends and family. She will be greatly missed. <br />In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Cancer Society of Canada.</div>
