<div itemprop="description">It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of (Agnes) Marilyn Jones (née Duff) on June 13, 2016 in her 86th year. She died peacefully at Wyndham Manor Long Term Care Centre, Oakville ON. Marilyn was born on April 19, 1930 in Hamilton, Ontario to Robert Lyndley and Eleanor Ford Duff. She played tennis for McMaster University during her years there as a student, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in 1952. In 1954, Marilyn married Robert Vernon Albert Jones. In the years before their first child was born, she worked diligently as a public school teacher in Hamilton. After the family moved to Oakville in 1961, she dedicated herself to the full time job of raising her children together with the love of her life, Robert (Bob). She was wholly and completely dedicated to her family. <br><br>In the Oakville community, Marilyn became particularly known for founding the Oakville Arts Council and was a driving force in establishing the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts. Marilyn is survived by her sister Elizabeth (William), sister-in-law Elsie, four children Catherine(Peter), Hugh, Graham(Lizzi) and Elizabeth(David), grandchildren Nicholas(Kim), Charles(Sarah), Jackson, Sam, Will, Alyah, her great grandchildren Holden, Emersen, Jasper and Sawyer as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 22, 2016 at Glen Oaks Funeral Home & Cemetery, 3164 Ninth Line, Oakville, ON. L6H 7A8. Visitors may arrive at 11:00 a.m. Service begins at 1:00 pm. If desired, memorial donations may be made in Marilyn’s name to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or to Wyndham Manor, 291 Reynolds St., Oakville ON L6J 3L5. <br><br>Please take a moment to sign the online guestbook.</div>
