<div itemprop="description"> <p> It is with deep sorrow that the family of Wanda Benn announce her passing at Trillium Heath Centre in Mississauga, on Wednesday October 5, 2011. </p> <p> &nbsp; </p> <p> Born October 25, 1923 in Tomaszow Mazowiecki, Poland, she came to Canada with her family in 1928, settling first in North Battleford, Saskatchewan and then moving to Vernon, British Columbia in 1937.&nbsp; She moved to Kitchener, Ontario in 1942, to Delmanor Retirement Home in Oakville in 2007 and most recently to Cawthra Gardens Nursing Home in Mississauga in 2009. </p> <p> &nbsp; </p> <p> Wanda was a long time member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Kitchener.&nbsp; She was predeceased by husband Barney (1983), parents Gustav (1942) and Julianna (nee Wudel) (1964), sisters - Elfryda Hintz (1977), Lucy Halbert (1997), Hertha Krueger (2010) and Emma Lorentz and her brother Oscar Lawrence (1996).&nbsp; She is survived by her sister-in-law Joyce Lawrence of Waterloo and brother-in-law Robert Benn (Mavis) of Edmonton, sons Patrick of Vancouver, Malcolm and daughter-in-law Beverly of Oakville and two grandsons Stephen (Sarah) of Bermuda and Bryan of Oakville. </p> <p> &nbsp; </p> <p> The funeral will be held on Tuesday October 11th at 11 a.m. at Glen Oaks Reception Centre, 3164 Ninth Line (403 &amp; Dundas St.), Oakville with internment to follow.&nbsp; As an expression of sympathy, donations to SickKids Foundation, in support of the Hospital for Sick Children would be greatly appreciated; cards will be available or on line at:&nbsp; http://www.sickkidsfoundation.com </p> </div>
