Peter was born in Bradford, Yorkshire, England. He served in the RAF during the Second World War where he taught air worthiness and aircraft maintenance. In 1951 he emigrated to Canada with his wife Cynthia and their two young daughters. He initially worked in the aerospace industry (Avro and Canadian Steel Improvement) before launching his own company that repaired and manufactured aircraft parts. He contributed to NASA's Space Shuttle Program by constructing the elbow joint of the robotic Canadarm. Peter had many hobbies and interests, particularly his love of sports cars. In 1959, he along with a few others founded the Ontario Jaguar Owners Association of which he was a life long member. For many years, Cynthia and Peter relished every opportunity to participate in club events, especially car rallies, which they inevitably won. In his retirement, Peter trained at Laguna Seca School of Racing in California so that he could teach performance driving with the Audi Club of America. Additionally, Peter had a great love of the water and was a past commodore of the Oakville Power Boat Squadron where he taught piloting and navigation. He served with enthusiasm as he volunteered with TOWARF in Oakville. Amongst other things he and Cynthia enjoyed Scottish country dancing. Peter was a gourmet cook, a big fan of Julia Child. He also enjoyed golfing, the theatre, playing bridge, entertaining and traveling to his beloved England with his devoted friend Kay Finch. He especially loved being with his family in Canada and his extended family in England. Above all, Peter was a charming gentleman whom everyone loved and he will be missed. He is predeceased by his wife Cynthia and leaves behind four children, five grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
John 11:25.
