<div itemprop="description">Paul Mwakai Kalongo, 64, of Oakville, Ontario, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, October 18, 2014 due to complications related to Alzheimer&rsquo;s disease. <br /> <br />Paul was born on September 25, 1950 in Kilifi, Kenya to Gibson Kalongo and Esther Kalongo (both deceased). In July, 1975 Paul received a Diploma in Technical Education from the University Of Toronto, Canada. In December, 1979 Paul received a Higher National Diploma in Mechanical Engineering from The Kenya Polytechnic Institute, Nairobi, Kenya. In July, 1994 Paul received a Bachelor of Engineering from South Bank University, London, England. Paul was also a Corporate Member of both the Institute of Mechanical Engineers in London, England and the American Society of Heating, Refrigeration &amp; Air Conditioning of Atlanta, Georgia. At the time of his diagnosis Paul worked as a Mechanical Engineer at Hydro One in Toronto, Canada. <br /> <br />Paul is survived by his loving wife of 15 years, Mary-Ann Kalongo, of Oakville, Ontario, his sons Christopher 12, Matthew 11 and Joshua 10 all of Oakville, Ontario and his daughter Tanya Kalongo of London England. He is also survived by his brother Peter and his wife Joyce Juma; his sister Christine and her husband William Wanjala; his sister Agnes and her husband Martin Mwinga; his sister Sarah and her husband Oscar Mwalimu and his brother David all of Kenya. He is also survived by his in-laws Humphrey and Mona Klinck; brother-in-law Clive Klinck and his wife Heather; sister-in-law Thelma Klinck; brother-in-law David Klinck and his wife Ronelle all of Johannesburg, South Africa as well as many cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. <br /> <br />Paul came to faith in Jesus on February 12, 1992 while studying at South Bank University in London. He loved reading his Bible and was active in serving in his Church when he lived in England, Africa and Canada. He volunteered with the international charity, HOPE Worldwide, in both Botswana and Kenya. Paul&rsquo;s heart for his community also lead him to become a member of Rotary International in Botswana. <br /> <br />Always a man devoted to physical fitness, Paul played rugby, did karate and was a regular at his local gym. He loved to play soccer with his sons. You could also find him relaxing to his favourite jazz or R &amp; B music or enjoying a glass of wine and a nice thick steak. <br /> <br />So many wonderful people have been with us through this journey with Paul since he became ill. Thank you to the incredible staff at Sheridan Villa Long-Term Care Centre in Mississauga, Ontario for their loving care and support. Thank you to the staff at the Oakville Public library for their flexibility and kindness. Thank you to our church family here in Ontario for their love and compassion. Thank you to our many friends and neighbours for their love and support. Thank you to the many community services that helped us balance life at home and caring for Paul. Thank you for the friends and family overseas who have continued to extend their sympathy and encouragement. We are truly grateful for the blessing that we are not alone in this journey. <br /></div>
