<div itemprop="description">Passed away peacefully at Ian Anderson House in Oakville, on June 22, 2016, in his 78th year. Loving husband of 51 years to Slavka (nee Ledenko). <br>Beloved father of Mary (Ante) and John (Sharmeen). Proud grandfather of Ana, John-Michael, Zain and Yasmine. <br>Survived by his brother Jozo (Oakville), his sisters Antica (Zagreb, Croatia) and Ljuba (Rijeka, Croatia) and predeceased by his brother Pero and sister Iva. Son of the Late Ivan and Mila (nee Pavic). <br>Mike was born on August 22, 1938 in Dobranje, Croatia. He came to Canada for a better life in 1958. He met the love of his life in Edmonton and married in 1964. Oakville became his home in 1965. He worked for 25 years at Long Mfg. and later in life before retirement worked in construction. He retired at the age of 60 and enjoyed his time gardening, watching CNN and spending time with his grandchildren. <br>Visitation will be held at Glen Oaks Funeral Home, 3164 Ninth Line, Oakville (at Dundas St.) on Sunday, June 26, 2016 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. with prayers at 7:00 pm. Funeral Mass will be on Monday, June 27, at Queen of Peace, 9118 Winston Churchill Blvd. Norval, Ont. at 10:00 a.m. Burial to follow at Glen Oaks Cemetery. Donations in memory of Mijo Mike can be made to the Ian Anderson House. <br>Special thanks to the caring staff at Credit Valley Oncology, Dr. Jeffrey Myers and Yolanda Corrigan. the staff at the Georgetown Hospital and Chartwell Retirement Residence Oakville. A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Helen Pyle and to the staff and volunteers at Ian Anderson House for the comfort, peacefulness, care and compassion provided in his last days.</div>
